Conservation Project Office Assistant Internship


NZERN has an unpaid internship always available for a student planning a career in project management. Would suit a keen person interested in creative industry or software projects and wanting real world experience. First come - first served. Work involves assisting NZERN's project manager organise a very busy team of dedicated volunteers and interns. This team is carrying out major projects using iterative methods.

Duties would include:

  • Run daily project meetings for all staff
  • Assign costs to cost centres to aid complex reporting requirements
  • Preparation of NZERN committee meetings
  • Assist with funding applications
  • Process applications from volunteers and interns
  • Maintain project documentation
  • Assist with organisation of events
  • Assist with organisation of NZERN National Conference
  • Help improve office systems to maximum efficiency and a minimum of paperwork.

In other words - help keep everything running smoothly in a situation more like a movie set than a construction site.

There is a separate project office.

Software available includes:

  • Microsoft Office 2000

There is an extensive biodiversity library to find answers to those problems you will encounter.

You need to be keen to learn new skills, be a good worker, thrive on raid changeand like working as part of a happy team of very experienced volunteers, who sometimes need gentle reminders. There will be opportunities to give presentations at the occasional seminar.

The internship is unpaid

We can provide a signed confirmation letter or internship contract for your professor.

NZERN is unable to assist with visa applications or work permits.

NZERN is unable to provide accommodation or food.

The office is fully equipped, tea and coffee is supplied

Typically interns come for several months full time or part time.

The position is open until filled.
